SIMTREND - Simulator for AT missile system FAGOT & KONKURS
The SIMTREND simulator is intended for training of new AT gunners in the firing AT-4 FAGOT (optionally AT-5 KONKURS and AT-7 METIS) antitank missile system of second generation.
The SIMTREND simulator is based on a high performance multiprocessor PC based system that provides facilities for a complex and highly realistic simulation of the real AT systems operating conditions.
The different levels of training easily develop skills and the procedures required at the real battlefield during combat operations.
|
Main Features
- 3D terrain map for the tactical scenery.
- Training scenes are based on 2.5D photographic imagery of real landscape or artificial 3D scene.
- 6DOF model of the missile’s dynamics.
- 3D model of the target kinematics.
- Possibilities of choosing different terrain types, different targets and trajectories and different meteorological conditions.
|
 |
 |
- Realistic presentation of the missile launch phase, tracer movement and hit/miss effects.
- Capability to record and replay missile and target trajectories.
- Weapon system & battlefield sound effects.
- Presetable environmental weather conditions.
- The facility to monitor, record and re-run each scenario provides the trainer with a powerful training tool.
- Immediate feedback increases a soldiers motivation to improve their skills.

The main window
The SIMTREND is designed to operate in the
user-friendly Windows 2000 environment.
Each simulator mode can be started by clicking an icon
in the main window, or by choosing a mode in the
pull-down menu.

In this way user can open:
- The scenery editor;
- Sound effects editor;
- Beginner's training phase scenario;
- Combat training scenario start;
- Replay of recorded firing;
- Analysis mode;
- Database and report generation;
- Help mode.
Scenery Editor
- In the scenery Editor it is possible to setup the following parameters:
- Scenery selection;
- Landscape type (2.5D photographic imagery and artificial 3D landscape) and terrain map;
- Target category (tank, APC, tank lorry, house, bunker);
- Target trajectory (target path and speed);
- Landscape visibility (daylight, fog, twilight or IR);
- Temperature on the simulated battlefield;
- Wind category (random or constant);
- IR counter-measurements.

Replica of the launcher
Firing-post model of ATGM FAGOT functionally and ergonomically ensures real training of all specific functions from missile launching to target tracking. Exploited missile tube, or missile tube model, can be inserted at the firing post model.
Aiming unit, with built-in micro LCD display, accurately represent sighting views (simulated scene/battlefield and aiming cross hairs). Trainee acquires the target in the tracker, launches the missile and a missile tracer appears in his field of view. Trainee has to keep aiming cross hairs at the center of the target till missile hits the target.

Pictures at an aiming monocular LCD display and at an instructor LCD display are in 1280x1024 resolutions with 16 million colors.
